Profiles

Every user and organization on the instance has a public profile page. The profile introduces its owner and lists their public repositories, so it is the page you reach whenever you select someone's name or avatar anywhere on the site. A user and an organization share the same profile layout.

Where to find it

• URL: gitvetrix.com/<owner>, where <owner> is the username or organization name (for example, gitvetrix.com/demo-user).
• Navigation: Select any user or organization name or avatar shown across the site — in your newsfeed, in the activity feed, in a repository listing, or beside a repository owner — to open that owner's profile.

Read a profile

1. Open the profile at gitvetrix.com/<owner>.
2. The left column shows the owner's photo, their display name as the page heading, and — when a display name is set — their username on the line below it. When no display name is set, the heading shows the username instead.
3. Below the name, read the owner's bio when they have written one.
4. The main column, headed Pinned Repositories, lists the owner's public repositories.

Browse an owner's repositories

1. On the profile, look to the Pinned Repositories column on the right.
2. Each entry shows the repository name and, when the repository is private and you have access to it, a Private badge. A one-line description appears beneath the name when the repository has one, followed by when it was last updated.
3. Select a repository name to open that repository.

Tips

• When an owner has no repositories to show, the Pinned Repositories column reads No public repositories.
• The profile lists public repositories. Private repositories appear here only when you have access to them, marked with the Private badge.
