Notifications

Your notifications inbox collects the activity that involves you — issues you are assigned, comments and mentions, and changes to items you follow — in one list. From the inbox you can filter to what you have not yet read, mark items as read, and clear items you are finished with.

Where to find it

  • URL: gitvetrix.com/notifications
  • Navigation: Select the notification bell in the top navigation bar. When you have unread notifications, the bell shows how many.

Read your notifications

  1. Open the notifications inbox.
  2. Each row shows an icon for the kind of event, the title of the item, the repository and issue it belongs to, a short excerpt, who caused the event, and how long ago it happened.
  3. Unread rows are marked with a dot and highlighted; rows you have already read are not.
  4. Select a row's title to open the issue or repository it refers to. Select the person's name to open their profile.

A badge next to the Notifications heading shows how many unread notifications you have. The inbox refreshes on its own while it is open, so new activity appears without a reload.

Filter the list

  1. Use the All / Unread control at the top of the inbox.
  2. Select All to see every notification.
  3. Select Unread to see only the notifications you have not yet read.

Mark notifications as read

  • To mark a single notification, select its check control. Its tooltip reads Mark read on an unread row and Mark unread on a row you have already read, so you can switch a row back to unread as well.
  • To mark everything at once, select Mark all read. This button is available only while you have unread notifications; when you have none, it is disabled and notes that there are no unread notifications.

Remove a notification

  1. Find the notification you want to clear.
  2. Select its Delete control.
  3. The notification is removed from your inbox.

Tips

  • When you have no notifications, the inbox shows No notifications. With the Unread filter active and nothing left to read, it shows All caught up!.
  • Notification preferences — choose which events notify you and whether each arrives in-app or by email.
  • Search — find code, issues, and merge requests across your repositories.
