Two-factor authentication

Two-factor authentication adds a second step to signing in: after your password, Vetrix asks for a short code from an authenticator app on your phone. Your security settings are also where you change your account password and save backup recovery codes in case you lose access to your app.

Where to find it

Open the account menu from your avatar in the top-right corner of any page, choose Settings, then select Security under Account in the settings sidebar.

The Two-factor authentication section shows an Enabled or Not enabled badge so you can see your current status at a glance.

Turn on two-factor authentication

  1. Go to Settings > Security.
  2. In the Two-factor authentication section, select Enable 2FA.
  3. In the Enable two-factor authentication dialog, select Start setup.
  4. Scan the QR code with your authenticator app. If you cannot scan it, copy the value shown under Text secret (for manual entry) and type it into your app instead.
  5. Select Next.
  6. Enter the six-digit Verification code from your app, then select Verify.

The section now shows an Enabled badge, and Vetrix asks for a code from your app the next time you sign in. If the code is rejected, Vetrix reports Invalid code. Check your authenticator app and try again. — confirm your device clock is correct and enter the current code.

Save your backup recovery codes

Backup recovery codes let you sign in if you ever lose access to your authenticator app. Save them somewhere safe as soon as you turn on two-factor authentication.

  1. Go to Settings > Security.
  2. In the Two-factor authentication section, select Regenerate backup codes.
  3. Select Generate codes.
  4. Save the codes now: select Copy 10 backup codes to copy all of them, or Download to save them as a text file.
  5. Select Done.

Each code can be used only once. Generating a new set invalidates every previous code, and the codes are shown only once — if you leave the dialog without saving them, generate a fresh set.

Turn off two-factor authentication

  1. Go to Settings > Security.
  2. In the Two-factor authentication section, select Disable 2FA.
  3. In the Disable two-factor authentication dialog, enter your Current password.
  4. Select the confirm button, which is labeled Disable 2FA for followed by your username.

If the password is wrong, Vetrix reports Incorrect password. and leaves two-factor authentication on. When it succeeds, the badge returns to Not enabled.

Change your password

  1. Go to Settings > Security.
  2. In the Change password section, enter your Current password.
  3. Enter a New password and repeat it in Confirm new password.
  4. Select Update password.

Each password field has a show/hide control that switches between Show password and Hide password so you can check what you typed.
