Roles

This page appears only if your administrator account has the corresponding permission.

The Roles & Delegations page is where you hand out administrator permissions and define reusable role templates for the instance. It is organized into tabs across the top: Delegations, Templates, and Repo grants. Each tab appears only if your account holds the permission it requires, so you may see all of them or only some.

Where to find it

  • URL: gitvetrix.com/admin/roles
  • Navigation: Open your avatar menu, select Admin panel, then choose Roles under Access & Security. The page opens on the first tab you have permission to see.

Delegations

The Delegations tab grants and revokes specific administrator permissions for individual accounts, so you can give someone a slice of admin access without making them a full administrator.

  1. In the Scope dropdown, choose the permission you want to work with. The list refreshes to show every account that currently holds it, with columns for User ID, Granted by, and Created at.
  2. To grant it to someone, enter their account's ID in Grant to user ID, then select Grant. A confirmation message shows the grant succeeded.
  3. To take it back, select Revoke on that account's row.

If a grant is refused, an error message appears explaining why.

Templates

The Templates tab manages instance-wide role templates. A template is a named, reusable set of permissions that repository owners can apply when they set up collaborators.

  1. Select + New template. The template editor opens.
  2. Enter a Name and an optional Description.
  3. In the permission matrix, select the permissions the template should include.
  4. Select Create to save the template, or Cancel to discard it.

Existing templates appear in a table with their Name, Description, and permission count. Select Edit on a row to change a template, or Delete to remove it.

Repo grants

The Repo grants tab gives an instance-wide overview of repository collaborator access. This view is still being built out; until it is complete, the tab shows a short note describing what is coming. Manage collaborators on an individual repository from that repository's own settings in the meantime.

  • Users — the account list, where you can promote an account to full administrator.
  • User groups — assign a baseline role to many accounts at once through instance tiers.
